Model Arab League

BCMAL 2017 Registeration Form

British Columbia Model Arab League 2017
The British Columbia Model United Nations team is extremely proud to present the first ever British Columbia Model Arab League

Back to the Roots: Molding Minds; Maintaining Identity
العودة إلى الأصل: تهيئة عقول؛ الحفاظ على الهوية

The League of Arab States, or Arab League for short, is a regional, multinational organization which deals with Arabian interests and affairs. The Arab League's scope of influence extends from diplomatic matters and symbolic representation to a planned joint defense force and social, economic, and cultural ties. The Arab League currently includes 22 members as well as 4 non-Arab observers.

Our motivations behind creating a second model stem from our desire to shape thought and impact lives, and -in the epitome of success- maybe even inspire. Because one conference just wasn't enough... because we want to change things, and because we, as the 4th BCMUN Cairo team, would like to leave a legacy of valuable ideas. This is why we chose Arab League to be our second model; there are so many valuable ideas connecting to the emulation of this regional organization. The League of Arab states isn't even very change-inducing in terms of end-result societal benefit. Yet, we emulate it, in order to educate and make aware.: In order to educate students about society, culture, politics, and economics in their area of inhabitance, and make aware of the Arab League's presence and effects, and the possible ways one could incite change through diplomacy.

Model Arab League, and Model UN all the same, are merely platforms of expression. They are platforms of debate and exchange of ideas. They are a taste of how to incite change - a taste vital to the process of inspiration. This taste is our goal; we want people to know how it feels to really change things, not to just wear suits and utter big words, but to actually change things. We want students to know that they can in fact incite change in their region and in the world as a whole.

(Language of procedure is English but speeches in Arabic are welcome and Arabic opening speeches are recommended)
